Commercial Electrical Installation
at Ringstead Fishery

Ringstead, Northamptonshire
Commercial Electrical
A larger commercial electrical installation at Ringstead Fishery, running a new supply from the DNO point to multiple areas across the site. The project involved over 300 metres of cabling, including sections routed underwater as part of the site distribution.

Project Overview

Ringstead Fishery is an outdoor leisure site near the village of Ringstead in Northamptonshire. The electrical installation here was a commercial project covering the site's electrical infrastructure — not a simple domestic or small commercial job, but a larger distribution project requiring careful planning of supply routes, containment and protection across a working outdoor site.

The work was carried out by Entigen and involved coordinating cable routes across varied terrain, with some sections running underground and others routed in ways that suited the site's layout and environment.

What the Client Needed

The client needed electrical power distributed to multiple areas of the fishery site. This meant starting from the DNO (Distribution Network Operator) supply point and running new circuits and distribution out to where power was needed — across a site that presented real logistical challenges in terms of cable routes and ground conditions.

Electrical Work Completed

The installation involved running new supply cabling from the DNO point, with distribution taken to multiple locations around the site. In total, more than 300 metres of cabling was installed as part of this project.

One of the more technically involved aspects of the installation was routing cabling underwater as part of the site distribution. This required appropriate cable type, correct installation method and care around the water environment — factors that need to be assessed and planned for, not improvised on site.

Containment and protection was used throughout the installation to keep cables safe in an outdoor environment, where UV exposure, mechanical damage and ground conditions are all relevant considerations. Terminations and distribution points were installed in appropriate enclosures for the site conditions.

Why the Details Mattered

Large-site commercial electrical work is different in character to domestic or small-commercial jobs. The planning of supply routes, the choice of cable type and containment, and the sequencing of the work all require more thought when you are covering significant distances across an outdoor site with variable ground conditions.

On a project like this, cutting corners on cable protection, containment or installation depth creates problems later — faults that are difficult to locate and expensive to repair when cable is buried across a 300-metre route. Getting it right from the start is the only sensible approach.

The underwater cable route in particular required careful material selection and installation technique. It is not a situation where domestic cable or standard containment is appropriate, and the method used here was chosen to suit the environment.

Testing, Safety and Handover

All new circuits and distribution points were tested on completion. Documentation was issued confirming the installation. The client was briefed on the distribution layout and the location of isolation points across the site.
