This project in Burton Latimer was a complete kitchen electrical installation to support a luxury kitchen refit. The kitchen had a striking black and white finish with clean lines, so the electrical work needed to be planned carefully — both functionally and visually. Visible clutter, badly positioned sockets or poorly routed cables would have undermined the whole look.
Entigen worked around the kitchen layout from the start, confirming socket positions, appliance supply routes and lighting plans before any first-fix work began. That planning stage is often where this type of job is made or lost.
The client was having a fully fitted luxury kitchen installed and needed new electrical provision throughout. This meant new circuits rather than simply extending existing ones, and careful thought about where every supply and socket would land in relation to the finished cabinetry and appliances.
Key requirements included:
The work included new dedicated circuits run from the consumer unit for the main kitchen appliances. Each supply was correctly sized and protected, with circuits kept separate where required by the appliance specifications.
The island received a motorised pop-up socket — a concealed socket unit that sits flush when not in use and rises on demand. This type of installation needs to be planned into the island design before fabrication, so the coordination between trades was important here. The socket needed power routed through the island structure in a way that was safe, tidy and hidden from view.
Lighting was installed with positioning planned around the cabinet layout and ceiling height. The brief was a clean, modern result with no unnecessary fittings visible.
In a kitchen of this standard, every finishing detail is noticed. A socket in the wrong position, a visible cable run or a poorly positioned light fitting can look wrong immediately. The electrical design had to sit within the kitchen design, not work against it.
That meant confirming all positions with the kitchen fitter before any chasing or cable installation, and revisiting those positions as the fit-out progressed. Kitchen installations often move slightly as cabinet depths and appliance clearances are finalised, so staying coordinated throughout the job is part of delivering a clean result.
All new circuits were tested on completion to verify insulation resistance, continuity and correct RCD protection. An Electrical Installation Certificate was issued on completion, confirming the work was carried out to BS 7671 wiring regulations.
The client was walked through the new circuits and shown how to identify each on the consumer unit. All circuits were clearly labelled before handover.
